What we do
Overview
At OxyCare Uganda, our primary mission is to ensure that no life is lost due to the lack of access to medical oxygen, particularly in underserved and remote communities across Uganda. Through our targeted interventions, we address the critical gaps in the healthcare system by focusing on the maintenance, repair, and sustainable management of oxygen concentrators and other essential medical equipment.
Oxygen Concentrator Maintenance and Repair
We provide comprehensive services to assess, maintain, and repair oxygen concentrators in healthcare facilities. Our efforts have significantly improved the functionality of these life-saving devices, ensuring they remain operational when needed most.
Capacity Building
We are committed to building local capacity by recruiting, training, and deploying biomedical technicians. These technicians are equipped to handle the technical demands of maintaining oxygen concentrators and other medical equipment. In addition, we train healthcare facility staff on the proper use and basic maintenance of oxygen equipment, which is crucial for sustaining these efforts in the long term.
Community Engagement and Awareness
Beyond technical support, we actively engage with communities to raise awareness about the availability and importance of oxygen therapy. By educating both healthcare workers and the public, we ensure that oxygen therapy is utilized effectively and reaches those who need it most.
Strategic Partnerships
Collaboration is at the heart of our approach. We work closely with the Ugandan Ministry of Health, local governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders to expand access to medical oxygen. A key strategic partner, D-Prize, provided the initial funding that allowed us to kick-start our project and continues to support our efforts with additional resources. These partnerships are essential for scaling our impact and ensuring that our interventions are sustainable.
Our Impact and Vision
Our work has already made a tangible difference, improving access to medical oxygen in numerous healthcare facilities across the West Nile region. Moving forward, we are dedicated to expanding our reach to cover more districts in Northern Uganda and eventually, the entire country. Our vision is a future where reliable medical oxygen is accessible to all, reducing preventable deaths and improving health outcomes for the most vulnerable populations.
